Spring is such a cheerful and lively time of year, particularly here in Colorado. As the last bits of snow have finally melted, the birds are chirping, bees are buzzing, and everyone is venturing outdoors to soak up the sunshine!
However, after we’ve exhausted all our usual ideas, we’re left looking for things to do, new places to see, or special events to attend. So, here I’ve got you covered with a complete list of things to do this spring in Denver and the surrounding areas! Because I am more than just a Denver family photographer, I know all things Denver and the surrounding area!
Here are five fun things to do with your family this spring–
Book a photo session with a professional photographer.
In the spring, there are a number of ways to capture spring memories with your loved ones! Not only is the weather getting warmer (hello, strappy sun dresses and pastel outfits!), but fewer crowds tend to gather in the more popular mountain towns, and it’s such a great excuse to get the kids outside for some playing and exploring! So, why not schedule an ‘in the light’ family photo session?! Plan ahead to make a full day of it, I’ll grab my camera, and we’ll capture lots of memories for your family to reflect on for years to come!
Indulge in some local eats.
If you’re looking for a place to sit down for a fine meal or grab a delectable treat, Denver is full of options! It’s really one of the best dining destinations for foodies like me, and spring just so happens to be the best time to sample food from some of the best restaurants in the area. After attending any of these upcoming events, you’re sure to fall in love with an award-winning eatery, local cuisine, or food truck you’ve never tried before. Be sure to share your favorites with me!
March 3rd – 12th: Denver Restaurant Week
April 5th – 8th: Taste of Vail
May 17th: Civic Center Eats
Attend one of the many local spring festivals.
For spring festivals featuring music, art, food, and entertainment – Colorado has many to offer this year! Many of these events typically happen in Denver and last an entire weekend. However, some of the mountain towns have upcoming festivals featured on their spring event calendars as well. We usually pick one of the art festivals and then a more unique festival to switch things up and try something new! Grab the entire family and check one out! Here are just a few of the most popular spring festivals to get you started–
March 1st – 3rd: Colorado Dragon Boat Film Festival
May 5th – 7th: Denver Cinco de Mayo Festival
May 27th – 28th: Denver Arts Festival
Snag tickets to an upcoming children’s event.
With so many young families living in the Mile High City, there’s no shortage of things to do with kids! The boys and I love to visit our favorite parks in the spring and go on scenic hikes, but it’s also nice to switch things up from time to time with a ticketed event. This spring, there are some fun and unique things happening in Denver! Certainly those featuring some well-loved Disney characters, dinosaurs, and even zoo animals!
March 10th – 12th: Jurassic Quest
April 2nd: Carnival of the Animals with the Denver Zoo
April 6th – 9th: Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate!
Celebrate the arts.
I’m such a big supporter of the local arts here in Denver. There’s so much talent pumping through this city with so many events and things to do! The spring calendar is jam-packed with performances -from ballet and musicals to the Colorado Symphony and local theatres. Surely, there’s sure to be something your family will enjoy together, no matter your interests. At the top of my list of things to do…
February 15th – May 28th: Vance Kirkland’s Cosmos
March 14th – 19th: Fiddler on the Roof
April 14th – 23rd: Ballet MasterWorks
April 14th – 16th: Anastasia
April 15th: The Music of Pink Floyd with the Colorado Symphony
