You just got engaged and you can’t wait any longer to be married! However, you don’t want to compromise your wedding vision. As a Colorado elopement photographer, I want you to have everything you are dreaming of! That is why I am sharing my timeline to plan your Colorado elopement in 6 months.
6 Months Before
This will be a tight timeline, so that you can be married as soon as possible without compromising your style and vision. A lot of your “to-dos” will be 6 months before. But, remember that most of these items are as simple as booking a reservation through a phone call.
Book Your Venue & Set Your Date
Before anything else, when you plan your Colorado elopement in 6 months is to set your date! However, most often your wedding date revolves around when your venue has openings. When first contacting your venue, have in mind an estimate of when you want to get married, then ask for their available dates. However, if you are not planning on a venue and want to have a true elopement. then set your date with your photographer.
Book Your Colorado Elopement Photographer
Once your date is set and reserved with your venue, contact all of your vendors. I suggest contacting your wedding photographer first, as other vendors like florists can book multiple clients for a day. Whereas photographers can only shoot one wedding a day. Making our schedules book out a lot quicker!
Book Your Wedding Officiant
Another wedding vendor that seems to get booked rather quickly are officiants. You can either choose an officiant that you have seen at your friends weddings, or choose someone you know who is ordained. In addition, I have worked with tons of officiants in the area! So you can always reach out! Either way, make sure you connect with your officiant and book them early.
Wedding Dress Shopping
Finding your dream dress may take some time. So I suggest that you start as early as you can! It is not common that brides find exactly what they want at the first bridal boutique they visit. In addition, you will more than likely need to order your size and have alterations made.
4 Months Before
As you plan your Colorado elopement in 6 months, be sure to prioritize your vendors. With that said, if any of the following vendors provide services that are more meaningful to you than others. Then book them sooner than 4 months prior.

2 Months Before
At this point, the time will fly by, and fast! Get with your wedding planner (or photographer for smaller elopements) to solidify your wedding day timeline. Then reach out to each of your vendors with this timeline and any last minute changes you may have. As a Colorado elopement photographer I love getting a look at your timeline so that I can come prepared! And I know other vendors appreciate it too!
Within the 2 months before your Colorado elopement you will also want to look into the details of getting your marriage license in the state of Colorado. Make plans to get this squared away before your wedding.
