Whoever said “If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes” was probably talking about Colorado. Anyone who has ever lived in this state knows that weather here can be pretty wacky and unpredictable. Sometimes it can put a slight damper on plans, but when the elements force us indoors, it can also make for some pretty amazing photographs.
With some members visiting from California, this wonderful family was gathering for their father-in-law’s 60th birthday celebration. In addition to honoring a cherished family member, it was also the first time they had been together in several months due to the pandemic.
They celebrated by singing happy birthday and playing both the piano and ukulele. Baby even took a little snooze upstairs while ‘jido’ (grandpa) and dad played backgammon in the kitchen. The family dog was so chill through it all, just relaxing and taking everything in.
As we prepared to make our way to Bluff Lake Nature Center for some outdoor photos, the weather took a sudden turn. The skies got dark. The wind got gusty and it even started snowing soon after we left. So, we made our way back to the house where we sang “happy birthday” in three languages before enjoying a slice of cake.
If you’re planning a birthday celebration you’d like to cherish forever…
I would be honored to take some photos so you can reflect on those memories for years to come! Let me know when and where the celebration is taking place and I’ll be the girl with the camera singing “happy birthday” on that special day.
