I’m such a fan of gift giving- particularly during the holidays. And whether it’s a heartfelt project I’ve created myself or something unique and store bought, my family and friends have received a number of gifts involving photographs over the years.
There are some pretty clever and beautiful things you can buy or create yourself with all the amazing family photos we have captured together. Here I’m sharing some of my favorite gift ideas for all the special people on your list. I hope this makes your holiday shopping a bit easier this year!
FOR THE MOMMAS-
DIY Mini Polaroid Magnets – POPSUGAR
Perfect for hanging the kids artwork, these adorable little magnets are so easy to create yourself and can add such a sweet touch to any refrigerator door. Just choose photos from your recent photo session or a loved one’s Instagram feed, collect the short list of materials you need to DIY, and voila! Fun-sized works of art!
FOR THE DADS-
DIY Hidden Photo Ties – Something Turquoise
How insanely cute are these photo ties by Something Turquoise blog? While I know a lot of guys may have less reason to be wearing ties these days now that we are staying home more and dressing up less, I still think adorning his favorite tie with a great photo of the kids, or picking out a new special one would make a perfect stocking stuffer! And if you don’t try this out for the holidays, be sure to put this idea in your back pocket for Father’s Day, and who knows by then we all might be back to having to don our very best on a somewhat daily basis, ties included!
FOR THE LITTLE ONES-
Baby Board Book – Artifact Uprising
Board books are such a popular holiday gift for babies and toddlers, but how many little ones have a personalized board book full of their favorite people? Upload photos of all the familiar faces in your little one’s world –mommy, daddy, brothers, sisters, grandma, grandpa, cousins, or friends. Then, add matching text on the opposite page. Watch this one become a bedtime story favorite!
FOR THE CRAFTY CREATIVE-
DIY Picture Frame Memory Wreath – Infarrantly Creative
I think we all have someone in our family (or our group of closest friends ) who really appreciates a great craft. Take some time to collect your favorite family photos or maybe the best silly moments with girlfriends, place them in tiny 2×3 frames, and attach them to a simple wreath for the perfect DIY gift. Don’t forget to tie a big green or red bow at the top for a touch of holiday cheer!
FOR YOUR FAVORITE FOODIE-
Photo Cookie Kit – Uncommon Goods
Leave it to uncommon goods to provide the most unique gift idea on my list this year! This gift can be given two different ways – either give the kit itself (which includes all the ingredients and supplies you’ll need to make cookies yourself) or box up the already baked sugar cookies with your family’s sweet little faces on top of the sugary icing.
FOR THE HOMEBODY-
DIY Photo Lampshade – Under the Sycamore
We always think of putting a printed photo in a frame, on canvas, or in an album, but what about creating a collection of photos around a lampshade? You only need a handful of materials to DIY – a printer, photos, a craft knife or scissors, pencil, ruler, vellum, glue, and the shade itself. Pair your shade with any color base for a fun home décor accessory.
FOR THE GRANDPARENTS –
DIY Snow Globe Ornament – Busy Kids Happy Mom
My boys made these ornaments a few years ago and each year when we pull them out of the ornament box they get excited all over again. They are such a fun conversation piece and really show off their personalities! This is a great way to show off those silly photos we take at your session…the running, jumping in the air, throwing leaves, spinning and twirling, all great photos to cut out and put in a snow globe!
FOR LOVED ONES WE CAN’T SEE AS OFTEN AS WE’D LIKE-
Digital Picture Frame – Loop Family
The concept of a digital picture frame is nothing new, and I feel like people having been using this gift idea for a while now. However, with travel and family get togethers being postponed over the last couple of years, I thought it might be a good idea to shine a light on this idea once again. Some companies are even offering special features with their digital frames. This particular one from Loop Family allows you to text photos to your loved one’s frame, so your photos are always up to date!
FOR YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER-
Caption Heart Snapshot Photo Art – Minted
What a fun way to reflect on 2021!
There are so many different ways to turn your photos into a beautiful work of art, but this Caption Heart Snapshot Photo Art from Minted is truly unique. Upload all of your favorite images, along with short captions for a personalized touch. If you’re a fan of options, they’re also offering different backgrounds, designs, and filters as part of their Heart Snapshot Mix collection.
