The Best Places to Shop for Family Photo Outfits

Tips and Tricks

My clients almost always reach out to me for styling advice prior to their family portrait sessions. Not only are they looking for advice on what to wear and which colors to choose for the perfect color palette, but they typically want guidance on where to find family photo outfits, too!

To start, I always recommend that my clients take a peek at my session planning page for ideas on where to start. Then head back over here to the blog for lots of posts like this one for more helpful style advice and ideas!

I absolutely love giving styling advice, so in this post I’ve put together my favorite places to shop for your family portrait session–

Women

Anthropologie

With boho and vintage styles, Anthropologie is a great place to shop for the perfect maxi or midi dress with a polished look.

Free People

The best selection of boho clothes, making it the perfect place to shop for a flowy midi or maxi dress, or even a lace or crocheted top, shawl or kimono.

Baltic Born

Baltic Born is a definite favorite of mine, and features flexible sizing and lots of maternity friendly dresses. It’s online only, but is stocked full of flowy and feminine dresses sure to make you feel like a queen during your session!

Oliver Bonas

If you want a little of that British style, head to Oliver Bonas, where you’ll find dresses in every length that are stylish but modest. There are also some great options if you’re looking to level up your look with jewelry, shoes, scarves, or hair accessories.

ZARA

The best selection of reasonably priced, fashion forward pieces – particularly dresses! Zara is great for featuring designer partnerships too, so it’s fun to keep an eye out for opportunities to score a one-of-a-kind, limited-edition dress at a not designer price!

Joyfolie

Affordable boutique clothing and the best place for mommy and me dresses (one of my personal favorites for sessions), shawls, rompers, and jumpsuits with a boho feel.

Men

ZARA

ZARA has endless options for men, too, and always on trend with that European flair. Keep it simple with a solid button-down shirt and chinos or dress pants in a complimentary color or add a little pizazz with some of their patterned and more artful pieces.

Target

A Good Fellow & Co. button up shirt with a solid pair of chinos can make for a simple, affordable look for the men in your family.

Kids & Babies

Janie and Jack

At Janie and Jack, you’ll find “modern twists on classic fashion” and it’s perfect if you’d like your kids’ outfits to coordinate. If you like to err on the dressier side of things, Janie & Jack is a great place to look.

ZARA

Yes, it’s on the list again – and if you’ve already snagged mom or dad’s outfit here, why not head over to the kids section to coordinate? You can achieve everything from the hip city kid to a sweet ‘girl in pink’ look in their kids collection and they have a full range for boys, girls & babies.

H&M

H&M offers some of the more trendy options I’ve seen online for kids, along with some cute boho dresses, button down shirts, and accessories. Plus their pants always fit my slim-but-tall boys so it’s a go-to of mine!

Target

The best place for affordable pieces for both boys and girls. I personally love the Hope & Henry line, and you can’t go wrong with Cat & Jack for basics either!

Joyfolie

The most adorable boho options for the little girls in your family. Their dresses are oh-so-pretty- and the best for twirling in!
