Castlewood Canyons Family Session / The Krantzs

I'm excited to share a unique family session consisting of newlyweds & the grooms parents at Castlewood Canyon Park right here in Colorado!

In my life as a Denver family photographer, it seems to be that most of the time my family sessions consist of mom, dad and a few young kiddos, somewhere between the ages of 1 and 8.  And believe me, I adore photographing children- it's my bread and butter so to speak. But I have to say when Jayme and Adam (who's engagement and wedding I will also be featuring on the blog very soon) decided to surprise Adam's parents with a gift certificate for a family session that would consist of just the four of them, I felt a tiny wave of calm come over me knowing I'd have a group of adults that would all listen to direction, haha! And listen they did as we took a drive out to Castlewood Canyons Park where beauty abounds in the form of mountains, valleys, a creek, ruins of a old stone house and all that the amazing Colorado landscape has to offer!

We got some fun sunlit 'true colorado' photos for them to cherish! Giving a gift certificate for a photo session is a wonderful way to surprise your spouse, parents or other friends or loved ones. Giving the gift of photography provides the recipient with timeless memories of an important time in their life. I offer gift certificates and present them to you wrapped and ready to hand over to a special person in your life! If you would like to purchase a certificate for someone or schedule a session of your own, give me a shout at erin@erinlassahn.com

Arvada Colorado Newborn Session / Baby Avianna

Another sweet newborn is on the blog! Avianna was an angel during our session (see the angel wings, ha!) and slept beautifully for us! I don't always photograph newborns on black as black usually isn't the color that first comes to mind when thinking of a brand new baby, but I love the contrast it provides in these first two shots. These photos were done right in Avianna's home in Arvada, Colorado- I always travel to the new parents so that bringing a brand new baby to a studio isn't something else they have to stress about while adjusting to parenthood!  These photos were taken late last summer and I am excited to say that I will be photographing Avianna's soon to arrive baby cousin in just another month or so!

The StJohn Family / South Valley Park, CO

The StJohn's have been friends of ours since the day we moved to Colorado as Sam used to be my husband's boss until Sam made a job change and he and his family moved to Colorado. So when we arrived here ourselves it was an easy friendship! I have done several family portraits of them here in Colorado and even one in Sonoma & Napa in California on a joint wine tasting trip! But this year we went to the beautiful South Valley Park in Ken Caryl here in Colorado - a hidden gem that not many people know of (shh don't tell!) but it's a beautiful spot to take in mountain views as well as the beautiful red rock formations!

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Camille & Seth / Denver Cheeseman Park Engagement

Camille and Seth! Engaged! We picked a beautiful afternoon to head over to Cheeseman Park here in Denver to take some engagement photos and finished just in the nick of time as not long after a storm rolled through. Cheeseman Park is one of Denver's beautiful manicured parks which features lush green grass and beautiful gardens along with a stately greek column structure in the center of the park. It's a wonderful spot for a proposal, an engagement session or even a small wedding! Congrats Camille & Seth! Stay tuned to the blog for their beautiful intimate Breckenridge wedding!

Venturi Family / Spring Portrait Session in Washington DC

The Venturi's! I have been photographing this family for years; well basically since the very beginning as it was the Venturi's that hired me to photograph their wedding years ago- my very first wedding ever! Since then they have had 3 beautiful children and I have been lucky enough to be there for so many wonderful moments! Maternity sessions, Newborn sessions, birthday parties and holiday photos every year! But this shoot was special because it was a surprise for their dad- a picnic in the park! We always photograph their session at Montrose Park- a great family friendly  (and dog friendly as I used to take my pup their when I lived right down the street) park in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC. How cute are these guys with their picnic basket!?

The Saenz-Ling Family / DC Family Portrait

This session marks the third time I have had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful blended family! But I have to admit that I am behind the times, as they now have a THIRD little boy and I can't wait to meet him!

For our first and second sessions we met up at some great DC spots...first the National Cathedral, and then the newly re-done Georgetown waterfront park. But for this session we thought it might be nice to keep it close to home- their home that is! They have a gorgeous lawn and a beautiful little park, and they dressed it up even more with a huge bunch of balloons. SO fun!

It's never a bad thing to bring a fun prop to a session, just adds to the possibilities!

Katie & Max / Brantwyn Estate Wedding, Delaware

I just posted about how I got to photograph the beautiful Katie and her fiance Max for their engagement. Next up is their gorgeous wedding at the Brantwyn Estate, part of the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington DE. (Yes those DuPonts) There was a not-so-brief point in time where I had my own heart set on getting married at Brantwyn, but as time would pass and life took me elsewhere I ended up getting married here in Colorado! But if nothing else, being able to photograph Katie & Max's I Do's at Brantwyn was a piece of a dream come true!

Now, I mentioned before that Katie and I grew up going to the same church, however it turns out she fell in love with Max, a Jewish fella! So this wedding was a beautiful Jeweish celebration, comeplete with chuppa, ketubah & the hora dance. And even a nice word from Katie's older brother who is an ordained Christian minister during the ceremony. I love joint weddings where not only two families come together, but also two religions and everyone celebrates in harmony!

Check out their lush green Brantwyn wedding and all the festivities!
