Denver Union Station Engagement / Julie & Brad

I had a blast photographing Julie & Brad in celebration of their engagement in downtown Denver, along with their dog at the iconic Union Station!

Julie and Brad contacted me as a referral from another amazing client of mine, the lovely Heather (see her and her beautiful family here) and so I knew Julie and Brad would be a great couple and easy to work with! Heather is a wonderful champion of my business and the folks she sends my way are always wonderful! As a non-native of Colorado, referrals, even after being her for 4 years, are my best advertisements and so I am so grateful for those clients who've been with me for years now and continue to bring new faces to my camera!

But back to Julie and Brad!! These kids are getting hitched in Mexico (gasp!), but for their engagement photos they wanted to do a little nod to home!

Along for the ride was Julie's mom Theresa as well as their little pup Rosie. We started our session at the iconic Union Station which for those of you who don't know, recently received a MAJOR facelift inside an out. For our session we just stuck to the gorgeous view outdoors, but for anyone looking for a a great place to go on a Friday night check out the two new bars inside; the Terminal bar and the Cooper Lounge. And, if you need a place to crash the new adjoined hotel The Crawford is unparalleled!

Later in our session we went north a few blocks in search of some great graffiti art. I think Julie's mom was a bit skeptical at first given the nature of walking down alley ways and all, but not long after she was out scouting for the next location while we were still photographing at the prior! In fact I have to credit her for finding the amazing Black and White wall featured in the last two images of this post!

Denver is awesome in the way of 'pro' graffiti, (don't really know what to call it- but graffiti that is legal and planned) and from what I can tell it's always a work in progress with the walls getting turned over to new artists every so often. This means it's great to take advantage of the unique back drops and immortalize them in photos because you never know when your favorite art wall will have turned into a new piece next time you return!

You really can't beat sun flare & the epic orange Union Station sign!

Such a cute little dachshund! She was a little nervous to be in photos I think, but happy to be in her mama's arms!

Oh how I love when the sun shines like this for a session!

Here's that awesome Black & White wall Julie's mom Theresa spotted for us- I love it!

17 Mile House Family Session / The Stollers

Today I'm sharing a beautiful family photo shoot done at the rustic 17 Mile House located in Parker, CO.

We did a little bit of everything from some family shots both posed and candid to some 6 month milestone photos for the Stoller's youngest girl Wesley. It was a little bit chilly, a little bit windy, and a lot to ask of a 17 month old and a 6 month but we got some beautiful moments despite the challenges! (We might have pulled out a bribe or two along the way, ha!) Stayed tuned for an upcoming blog post on what to expect from your session with young kiddos of all ages!

You may notice as you scroll though that in Wesley's milestone photos we used some beautiful props!  Wes's mom Heather brought these along- she has her own small business called Copper Coil Interiors making custom painted signs and refinishing furniture. Her work is beautiful but don't take my word for it- check out her Facebook page to see all of her awesome designs!

And for even more from this awesome family- check out her younger sister Jayme during a session we did with her new hubby and her in-laws here!

What kids doesn't love being tossed in the air. It's a great go to move to get smiles on little tykes faces!

Just stop it with the cuteness!!

Sometimes bribes are necessary. Lollipops in my camera bag come in handy!! Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, amiright!?

These eyes! Wes was playing coy....

First a look of uncertainty, but we eventually got her to smile!

And to close, how about some baby toes? (Oh that rhymed!) There's pretty much nothing better than baby toes!

Castle at Maryvale Wedding / Kara & Mike

I was so honored to be able to help document this lush, green, floral wedding at the stately Maryvale Castle with friend and fellow wedding photographer Marcella Treybig

One of the best things about being a wedding photographer is the professional and personal relationships you form along your journey with other like-minded photographers. Marcella is one of these lovely people who I met years and years ago while still living and working in DC, and even now that I live in Colorado and she is about to move back to her hometown area of Orange County, CA, we've still manage to sync up here and there along our different paths! We are both friends and colleagues which makes the relationship doubly rewarding! The wedding below was a great opportunity for me to be able to second shoot for her- a favor she had done for me a number of times in the past in years prior. I was going to be back in the DC area so I gladly agreed to lend a hand at Kara & Mike's wedding at Maryvale castle

These two had a truly beautiful day, from the stunning grounds and facade of the impressive castle (which moonlights as a wedding venue when not in use as an all-girls preparatory school) to their contagious love for each other, and the perfect light we had all day long! Mike was one of those guys who wasn't afraid to put his feelings on display- he simply couldn't wipe the grin off his face from start to finish! (And who would want him to!?)

Check out their beautiful day and let me know what you think in the comments! Congrats to Kara and Mike, and thanks so much to Marcella for letting me tag along!

Care for a little 'something blue'? These teal blue wedding shoes were absolutely perfect!

Kara had given these cufflinks as a wedding gift to Mike, he was super stoked to wear them for his 'I do's'

This may have been one of the sweetest First Look's I've ever been able to photograph. I just adore the way that he reached out and kissed Kara's hand before even turning to see her. To me it said ' I love you blindly'.

Apparently she found it sweet too because she was trying to hold back the tears!

I love how giddy and happy Kara was to walk down the aisle with her father!

These two wrote very sweet, heartfelt custom vows in addition to traditional vows to share with each other.

Can you believe the beautiful light!? Every photographers dream!

Congrats Kara & Mike!

Castlewood Canyons Family Session / The Krantzs

I'm excited to share a unique family session consisting of newlyweds & the grooms parents at Castlewood Canyon Park right here in Colorado!

In my life as a Denver family photographer, it seems to be that most of the time my family sessions consist of mom, dad and a few young kiddos, somewhere between the ages of 1 and 8.  And believe me, I adore photographing children- it's my bread and butter so to speak. But I have to say when Jayme and Adam (who's engagement and wedding I will also be featuring on the blog very soon) decided to surprise Adam's parents with a gift certificate for a family session that would consist of just the four of them, I felt a tiny wave of calm come over me knowing I'd have a group of adults that would all listen to direction, haha! And listen they did as we took a drive out to Castlewood Canyons Park where beauty abounds in the form of mountains, valleys, a creek, ruins of a old stone house and all that the amazing Colorado landscape has to offer!

We got some fun sunlit 'true colorado' photos for them to cherish! Giving a gift certificate for a photo session is a wonderful way to surprise your spouse, parents or other friends or loved ones. Giving the gift of photography provides the recipient with timeless memories of an important time in their life. I offer gift certificates and present them to you wrapped and ready to hand over to a special person in your life! If you would like to purchase a certificate for someone or schedule a session of your own, give me a shout at

Arvada Colorado Newborn Session / Baby Avianna

Another sweet newborn is on the blog! Avianna was an angel during our session (see the angel wings, ha!) and slept beautifully for us! I don't always photograph newborns on black as black usually isn't the color that first comes to mind when thinking of a brand new baby, but I love the contrast it provides in these first two shots. These photos were done right in Avianna's home in Arvada, Colorado- I always travel to the new parents so that bringing a brand new baby to a studio isn't something else they have to stress about while adjusting to parenthood!  These photos were taken late last summer and I am excited to say that I will be photographing Avianna's soon to arrive baby cousin in just another month or so!

The StJohn Family / South Valley Park, CO

The StJohn's have been friends of ours since the day we moved to Colorado as Sam used to be my husband's boss until Sam made a job change and he and his family moved to Colorado. So when we arrived here ourselves it was an easy friendship! I have done several family portraits of them here in Colorado and even one in Sonoma & Napa in California on a joint wine tasting trip! But this year we went to the beautiful South Valley Park in Ken Caryl here in Colorado - a hidden gem that not many people know of (shh don't tell!) but it's a beautiful spot to take in mountain views as well as the beautiful red rock formations!

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Camille & Seth / Denver Cheeseman Park Engagement

Camille and Seth! Engaged! We picked a beautiful afternoon to head over to Cheeseman Park here in Denver to take some engagement photos and finished just in the nick of time as not long after a storm rolled through. Cheeseman Park is one of Denver's beautiful manicured parks which features lush green grass and beautiful gardens along with a stately greek column structure in the center of the park. It's a wonderful spot for a proposal, an engagement session or even a small wedding! Congrats Camille & Seth! Stay tuned to the blog for their beautiful intimate Breckenridge wedding!
