We hear it all the time, ‘Your wedding day will be the best day of your life.’ And while I understand the meaning and sentiment (because any new stage of life is exciting), I think the phrase can put a lot of pressure on one single day. It makes you believe that joy, connection and intention all have to come together beautifully into one perfect moment. But life doesn’t always work like that, and honestly, thank goodness for that! Because what if the best day of your life isn’t just one day?

What If It’s a Collection of Moments?
Maybe it’s your toddler crawling into your lap after a long day, looking for some cuddles, still sticky from their apple juice and fruit snacks, but so sweet. Perhaps it’s your partner reaching for your hand in the car. Or your fur-baby resting their head on your feet while you do the dishes. Maybe it’s the peace in the middle of a meadow of flowers before saying your vows, or children laughing and running barefoot through your backyard. These aren’t just in-between moments; these are the moments that hold the most impact in our everyday lives.

The Beauty of Real Life Deserves to Be Celebrated
As a Denver photographer, I’ve had the honor of witnessing so many of these ordinary yet totally memorable and incredible moments in life. During family sessions, where nothing is posed, kiddos play tag and have tickle fights. During elopements, where the light is golden, wind blows through your veil, and everything is organic, unfiltered, and creates the best memories. We often think beauty is in the posed moments. But it’s really in the authentic moments, captured in your real-life bonds and relationships. Not the perfection.
This is a huge reason I’m drawn to lifestyle photography and intimate elopements. During these sessions, there’s room for imperfection and real life. When toddlers don’t want to smile, muddy hiking boots during your elopement, or spontaneous dance parties. You’ll want to remember these little moments in your life later. Not what you looked like, but how you felt!

The Best Day of Your Life Might Be Found in the Small Moments
Here’s the truth: sometimes the most meaningful moments in life are found in the everyday. After the excitement of the wedding fades, and your days are filled with snacks and diapers, it’s beautiful. The Tuesday night grocery runs and drive-thru date nights. The moments that don’t always make it onto social media but fill your life with steady and strong love. Don’t let social media expectations and comparisons steal the joy from your everyday life.

Ready to Document the Real Stuff?
When you look back through your photos, whether from a family session in your favorite park or an elopement at sunrise, I hope you remember how you felt. The images will be beautiful, but remembering how loved and present you were is the most special part. That’s the good stuff.
The best day of your life? While it may not have happened yet, it doesn’t mean it won’t come. Or maybe it already has, over and over again in the everyday moments you almost overlooked.
