Colorado’s scenic mountain peaks and stunning scenery provide more than an unforgettable elopement experience and picturesque backdrop. Our stunning natural landscape set the stage for a one-of-a-kind experience. Nature’s role in the various elements of an elopement is monumental, from creating mood and atmosphere and iconic backdrops to allowing for an intimate and private connection between couples and the location. For example, while a snow day may seem like unappealing weather, the light and soft snowfall can bring a sense of wonder to the event. In the following years, whenever it snows, you may be brought back to that moment – that’s the power of nature. Beyond beauty, the growth and strength of nature is a beautiful symbol of the strength and growth of a relationship. The beauty of nature captured throughout your Colorado elopement photography is a unique addition to your adventure elopement, but we also have a responsibility to help preserve it to ensure enjoyment for years and years.

Creating Mood and Atmosphere – Colorado Elopement Photography
One of my favorite aspects of an elopement in Colorado is the variety of weather. We are lucky to receive breathtaking four seasons throughout the year. Visitors come throughout the year to experience the various conditions and adventures in different environments. The same can be said for an elopement. Couples often visit the area to create an experience to remember for years. Colorado’s natural beauty adds depth and unparalleled grace to photos, from an early morning private forest ceremony to a small wedding facing the towering mountains. The great outdoors provides the perfect backdrop for any event.

Symbolism and Connection
Another role nature plays in Colorado elopement photography can be found through symbolism. The natural fortitude and strength found in nature to continue growing despite harsh conditions can be related to a relationship. Nature can also symbolize growth, love, and unity. For example, a couple surrounded by towering trees overlooking rough and rocky terrain can represent beauty found even in hard times. A sunrise elopement ceremony can signify the beginning of a new chapter and paint a beautiful picture in the sky for couples to enjoy.
Dynamic Composition
While photographing Colorado elopements, I try to capture some of the various textures found in nature. Whether that’s a sun flare adding warmth to the photo or using summer wildflowers to frame a photo. Adding the outdoors to your Colorado elopement photography, where nature becomes your frame, is such a wonderful gift.

Intimacy and Privacy – Colorado Elopement Photography
Many couples opt for an elopement in Colorado to utilize the remote natural locations for a private ceremony. This natural oasis allows couples to feel more relaxed and in the moment, not worrying about on-lookers or tourists. In turn, this allows for more authentic and genuine moments captured on camera to reflect on for years to come. As a photographer, some of my favorite moments from elopements are the candid in-between moments that can be found when couples feel at ease to be themselves. Colorado’s natural elements can provide incredible opportunities for couples to have privacy and intimacy, as long as you pick the right spot!
Leave No Trace
Lastly and most importantly, we must support the nature and beauty found in Colorado. Our Colorado scenery has provided many with incredible adventures and breathtaking backdrops to celebrate and explore and so it’s important to honor the area as well. The Leave No Trace principles encourage visitors to leave the space as they’ve found it, allowing future generations to enjoy the area. Fake flower petals, confetti cannons, and champagne corks are best left indoors. If you must use additional items not found in nature, clean up and leave the area better than you found it, but check the rules of any given location to see what is permitted.

Colorado is widely known as a welcoming and stunning location to be enjoyed. If you’re on the fence about eloping here, consider this your sign to do it! I promise you won’t regret the adventures and memories you’ll make.
