If you’re looking for me this winter, you can find me in the kitchen! Of course, I still love to venture out for the occasional snowy session in the mountains (there’s seriously nothing more magical!), but I also enjoy spending time with my family whipping up some tasty, cozy recipes. So, here I’ve gathered up some of the recipes I just can’t wait to try this year.
I hope you’ll join me on my winter cooking extravaganza and let me know which recipes you like best!
Bread and Biscuits
Who doesn’t love some cornbread right out of the oven!? But the added sweetness of some sweet potatoes to the Sweet Potato Cornbread recipe below has me wanting to whip up a pot of chili to go alongside stat!
Soups, Salads, and Sides
I love a bowl of creamy tomato soup on a chilly day and this recipe for tomato bisque looks divine! Or how about a twist on gnocchi by putting it in a broth of creamy bacon-y soup on a snowy evening!? If all that richness is too much how about a beautiful winter kale salad with cranberries, bacon and walnuts, yum! And if you want to spice things up I am loving the sound of some curried butternut squash soup or some spiced brown lentils!
Pasta
As a french aficianado I was immediately drawn to the Raclette-Gruyere mac and cheese recipe below- as I haven’t seen a creative use for the Swiss-French cheese, ‘Raclette’ other than the traditional method of warming slices of it on a Raclette burner to go with meats and potatoes! So i am excited to try that one. I DID just try Teighan Gerard’s Sweet Potato Cheddar Pierogis and I have to say YUM – this recipe is a winner! Go home and make it tonight!
Entrees
Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas or a regular Tuesday night- the Cranberry-Onion Brisket below sounds like a fine reason to sit down at the table together! I also wouldn’t mind a warm bowl of the Short Rib Chili, or some Soba Noodles with Crispy Duck with Hot Dipping Sauce, perhaps paired with som Korean Fried Chicken & Soy Sauce!
Just for Fun
Ever heard of Coquito? I hadn’t but now that I have, I’ll definitely be whipping up a pitcher of this for my guests at Christmas, and I think it might go perfectly with this decadent Bananas Foster Cheesecake! That’s of course only after we have stuffed ourselves silly on appetizers including the Carmelized Five-Onion dip, and some of the other amazing recipes above!
