Whether you’re looking for a beach, park, or urban location for your upcoming Florida portrait session, there are a number of amazing Tampa and Clearwater Florida Portrait Session location options in the beautiful Sunshine State! Each spot offers a slightly different vibe or “look”, but they’re all bursting with gorgeous scenery and would be perfect for your family or couple photos.
Here I’m sharing the best Florida portrait session locations– in Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and beyond!
Beach Locations
Davis Islands
900 Martinique Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606
Well known as one of the closest beaches to downtown Tampa, Davis Islands Beach is great for a photo session – not just because of its beautiful waterfront scenery, but also because it’s dog friendly with multiple off-leash areas to let your four legged friends roam free. I’ve done many sessions here and love its ease of access for Tampa families and lack of tourist beach crowds!
Ft Desoto Beach Park
3500 Pinellas BayWay S Tierra Verde, FL 33715
This park in Tierra Verde offers a lot of variety when it comes to unique photography locations. From a tall staircase and areas with tall grasses to some old ruins in the water, there are a number of scenic backgrounds for your Florida photo session. Let’s schedule your next session here!
Sand Key Beach Park
1060 Gulf Blvd. Clearwater, FL 33767
Just south of Clearwater Beach, this park offers a rock jetty, an iconic bright red lifeguard station, soft sands, and lots of water for playing and splashing. It can be crowded at sunset, so weekdays are recommended and flexibility of spirit while shooting!
Madeira Beach
Various Locations
Bordered on the west by the Gulf of Mexico and on the east by St. Petersburg, Madeira Beach offers a quaint beach town vibe that is perfect for your next Florida portrait session. Between Indian Rocks and St. Pete, there are a number of picturesque locations, so we can capture great shots anywhere within this stretch!
Cypress Point Park Beach

If you’re a Tampa resident and the thought of a long drive for a beach session makes you cringe, this might be the best location for you! With a Tampa address, Cypress Point Park Beach offers visitors nice walking paths, a rock retaining wall, and stunning views of Tampa Bay. This is a versatile spot, showing off its beauty at both sunrise and sunset!
Honeymoon Island
#1 Causeway Blvd. Dunedin, FL 34698
Honeymoon Island is a barrier island and one of Florida’s most-loved state parks. It’s located in Dunedin, in northern Pinellas County and offers lots of beautiful scenery, including gorgeous beaches and soft sand for playing.
Downtown Safety Harbor
Kennedy Blvd, Tampa, FL 33606
Known as the “Quaint Quiet City on the Bay”, Safety Harbor is a small town with lots of shops, restaurants, bars, and local parks. The area also offers beautiful sailboats, greenery, fountains, and a small beach – the perfect combination if you’re seeking either a nautical or picturesque, park feel for your session.
Park Locations
Philippe Park, Safety Harbor
2525 Philippe Pkwy., Safety Harbor, FL 34695
Located in Safety Harbor, this 122 acre park was named after Odet Philippe, who is credited with introducing grapefruit to Florida. The park sits on land that was once part of Philippe’s plantation and offers a lovely view of Tampa Bay along one mile of shoreline. The trees are full of luscious green Spanish moss (my favorite!) and line the roadways and paths throughout the park.
Largo Botanical Gardens
12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL 33774
Bridges, ponds, fountains, rose bushes, and a vine-covered wall are just some of the features you’ll find at this 182 acre botanical garden in Largo. You’ll encounter all sorts of flora and fauna as you explore this park; it’s truly a hidden gem and perfect for any session!
Swann Circle Park
4428 W Swann Ave S Tampa, FL – South Tampa
Located in the Beach Park neighborhood in South Tampa, this park also features big, mossy oak trees and palms. The abundance of trees is perfect for providing lots of shade and the perfect backdrop for a portrait session. The lighting is perfect here during the golden hour, just before sunset.
Our Lady of Divine Providence
711 S Bayview Ave, Clearwater, FL 33759
The grounds of Our Lady of Divine Providence House of Prayer are sprinkled with the mossy oak trees I love so much, along with walkways, benches, a small lake, and statues. This location in Clearwater, Florida is not only perfect for prayer and meditation, but playful photo sessions, too!
Urban Locations
Curtis Hixon Park
600 N Ashley Dr, Tampa, FL 33602
This 8-acre waterfront park in Tampa is located adjacent to the Tampa Riverwalk, Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, Tampa Museum of Art, Glazer Children’s Museum, and Rivergate Tower. There are a number of architectural features scattered throughout this area, making no two sessions here are alike!
Ybor City
[address here]
For a charming, cultural look – head to Ybor City, a historic Tampa neighborhood with rustic brick buildings, graffiti murals, and vine covered walls, that all have a story to tell. Located just northeast of downtown, this area is jam packed with history. Try starting near 7th Avenue and see where the session takes you!
Downtown St. Petersburg
250 Bay Shore Dr NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
St. Petersburg, Florida has so much to offer. Its banyan trees, alleyways, brick walls and roads, murals, and a pier are just a start. Check out the Museum of Fine Arts, the Mahaffey Theater, the waterfront, and marina for a stunning view of the bay, along with a variety of scenic backdrops for your session.
University of South Florida Campus
4202 E Fowler Ave, Tampa, FL 33620
For pergolas, fields, flowers, vines, and gnarly trees, check out the University of South Florida campus in Tampa. Capture some shots along the palm tree lined, brick walkways or in front of another one of the multiple scenic locations – all great for your portrait session.
University of Tampa Campus
401 W Kennedy Blvd, Tampa, FL 33606
This university campus is the perfect mix of urban and park with a touch of water as it’s located along the Hillsborough River. There’s a plethora of open grassy areas, hedges, palm trees, interesting architectural details, and old buildings, too! I love photographing Florida portrait sessions here on campus!
