In one of my many trips back to DC for a few weddings, I had the pleasure of photographing a sweet family that’s expecting a baby girl in just a few weeks! Little Will here is about to be a big brother, and before she arrives his mom wanted to grab a few pictures of Will, her, and the belly! I’m scheduled to be back in town right after the little one arrives, so I should be posting in another month or so with pictures of her, Will, and mom and dad all together! But for now, Wills sweet smile and curious looks should be more than enough to keep you grinning I am sure, cuz he’s pretty darn cute!

It was only this fall that I had the pleasure of photographing Anu, Anika and Anish, and at the time Anu was expecting her second bundle of joy. Well Anu texted me to say pictures were in order last month upon the arrival of their sweet boy, Arav. I am so honored to have photographed Anika when she was a newborn, and now her baby brother Arav. He was just five days old in these photos, which is the best age for doing newborn photos! Welcome Arav!

2010, A look back

Happy New Year! As I look forward to 2011 and all that I hope it brings, I thought it might be nice to look back on 2010, and all of the wonderful moments you, my clients, allowed me to share in. I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to step into peoples worlds, if only for a few hours, and help capture some of the fleeting moments of their lives. I can’t wait to find out what 2011 has in store for me, who I will meet, and who I will have the chance to photograph…but in preparation for all the wonderful moments I hope to capture this year, here is a look back of some of my favorites from all the amazing weddings, engagements and family portrait sessions from last year!

Anu, Anika & Anish, Great Falls Family Portrait

I got to photograph this adorable little girl when she was only a few weeks old, and its so amazing to see how much she has grown a year and a half later! We all went down to Great Falls for some beautiful fall colors and Anika had fun throwing rocks in the river and stomping on leaves, and even a bit of tree climbing at the end!

(Thank the LORD) Now is a PERFECT time to schedule a family portrait session – before it gets too hot and sticky outside! I will happily follow you with camera in tow (more like chase after your kids) at the park, the waterfront, a picnic, or even just in your backyard! The National Cathedral

A recent discovery: The National Cathedral Grounds are a beautiful and plentiful spot to photograph! In one weekend I managed to do TWO sessions there, the first being engagement photos for Nina and Hampton in slightly cloudy weather, and then the next day I met the Dweck family in sunny conditions. Well, clouds or sun, it didn’t matter, I think the results from each session show that the gardens and grounds surrounding the Cathedral are gorgeous no matter what the weather! And as always, it doesn’t hurt to have beautiful couples and adorable children to photograph at such nice locations!

We’ll start with Nina and Hampton, a very sweet couple who are getting married in April but wanted to get some pictures done while the fall colors still were around. Even though it was drizzling when we started, they were troopers and a breeze to work with. Congrats Nina and Hampton!

This yellow tree became a favorite spot for both sessions!

This is by far my favorite shot of the day. Nina looks absolutely beautiful and Hampton looks like he knows it!

Next up I had the pleasure of photographing the Dweck family. Their six year old son Shai was a blast to run around with. We chased each other, he did a few karate moves for me, we climbed trees and made monkey face….and later on threw leaves and horsed around at the playground. I think we got some fun shots in here!

Shai loved to slide! Every time he hit the bottom I got this face, combined with a giggly scream!

As time went on the faces got funnier. At the end, he finally said “Can you please stop taking my picture?” I decided fair is fair

The Taggart Twins!

I have several sessions from the last few weeks to post but first up are the adorable twin daughters of a very talented graphic designer, Alston Taggart! Alston has created some beautiful branding pieces for us and I am looking forward to working with her in the coming months – you can see her talent here: Studio Red. But right here, you can see her talent (and her wonderful husband’s of course too) for creating two adorable girls!!!! We had quite a time running around and playing at the grounds of the National Arboretum, with all the beautiful fall colors around. Get ready for the cuteness!

So given our blogging track record over the last several months, one can either surmise two things – we are really lazy – or really busy!!! Well I hope that this post along with the others this week will prove that its option number two! There has been oodles of shoots, weddings, portraits and engagements and today I am posting two different events in one!

The first is the first half (oh yes, there will be a part two to come) of my hometown church Pastor’s family portraits. Nate has three beautiful girls- his adorable youngest daughter Lily; the ham for the camera and oldest daughter Grace and of course his beautiful wife Ari. We had fun running around in Meridian Hill Park here in DC with balloons and princess crowns and a few pictures in between! I had a blast!!

Next up are photos from Danielle and Mike’s Backyard Wedding! I met Danielle in CUSP (awesome designer store in Georgetown for all you shopaholics!) in the spring when I noticed her beautiful engagement ring! (Mike did well) I had the pleasure of photographing them for their engagement photos and meeting all their friends and family at their engagement party in April. Fast forward to a few weeks ago in October when I got to step back into their world for just a few hours for their very intimate backyard wedding. It had rained all morning and it cleared up just in time for their ceremony! Danielle looked absolutely exquisite in her very simple cotton wedding dress and Mike had a cool look going on with a Blazer, jeans and some Converse kicks! They had a wonderful ceremony with 20 of their closest friends and family and it was so refreshing how personal everything was.

Two beautiful Families in two days!

Friday I was up in Delaware where I grew up visiting my parents but just before heading back down to DC I stopped for what I wish could have been a longer visit with my friend Julie, and her adorable son Riley. Her husband Jason was hard at work but we got some great shots of Julie, her belly and Riley! Shes due any minute now with another baby boy, Logan, and I can’t wait to meet him when he arrives. In the meantime, look at how much love is between Riley and Julie….

The next morning, I got to meet Claire her husband Joe, and their cute as a button son Evan. He’s six months old and despite having the hiccups the whole time, was a champ when it came to looking cute for the camera. The shoot was Claire’s Father’s Day gift to Joe, how sweet is that! Check out Evans giggly smile below
